The Korean War Memorial Museum

Well, with the Foundation part of our trip over, the American contingent has two days to explore Seoul on our own. I visited the Korean War Memorial Museum..This enormous museum highlights the military struggles-both triumphs and defeats of the Korean people going all the way back to Pre-Historic times..I found the Japanese Colonial Period and the Korean War most interesting. There was a portion of the museum dedicated to the role of United Nations forces in Korea, including the sacrifices of the largest UN contingent-the American Forces. American sent over 1 million soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines to fight in the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. Over 50,000 made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to protect South Korean freedom against the Communist North Korean forces.
